What does Zvook do?

Zvook, headquartered in Lviv, Ukraine, builds a decentralized network of passive acoustic sensors — weatherproof parabolic "acoustic mirror" antennas paired with microcomputers running machine-learning models — detecting and classifying the sound signatures of low-flying aerial threats (cruise missiles, drones, helicopters) that radar often misses, determining trajectory, altitude, speed, and coordinates, and feeding alerts into Ukraine's Air Force integrated air-defense system. The project, nicknamed "Sky Fortress," grew out of a collaboration between a Territorial Defence Brigade and several Ukrainian IT firms; its team includes Pavlo Tsiupka (CEO, also CEO of smart-home company i3 Engineering), Dmytro Believtsov (co-founder/CTO of voice-cloning company Respeecher, who leads Zvook's ML/audio work), and Maryan Sulym (a serviceman in the 125th Territorial Defence brigade). The network reportedly covers roughly 5% of Ukrainian territory, has been demonstrated at Ramstein Air Base to representatives from 11 NATO countries, and Lithuania has announced plans to adopt the system. Zvook was one of 30 Ukrainian startups selected for the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund (non-dilutive grant up to $100,000 plus Google Cloud credits) in May 2025, and is listed as a D3 (D3 VC) portfolio company.
