RCH 155 Weapon System Production — British Army
Contract for Rheinmetall to manufacture complete 155mm L/52 remote-controlled weapon assemblies for all 72 British Army RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, valued in the low three-digit million-euro range.
Rheinmetall secured a contract, as subcontractor under ARTEC GmbH (the Rheinmetall/KNDS Deutschland joint venture), to manufacture complete 155mm L/52 remote-controlled weapon assemblies — barrel, muzzle brake, breech, recoil system, trunnions, plus tools, publications, training material and non-recurring engineering — for all 72 of the British Army's RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers. Deliveries run May 2028-June 2031, manufactured at Rheinmetall's new large-caliber gun production facility ('Gun Hall') in Telford, England. This expands an earlier ~£53M/$70M OCCAR-to-ARTEC order covering only 37 weapon-system sets. The overall program is the UK's nearly £1B/$1.35B 'Mobile Fires Platform' acquisition, awarded to ARTEC GmbH via OCCAR in May 2026, replacing the British Army's AS90 tracked howitzers (68 of which were transferred to Ukraine).
