Brian Streem
NYU Tisch-trained filmmaker who founded drone-cinematography studio AeroCine Ventures (later Aerobo) in 2014, then pivoted the team in 2018 into Vermeer, a GPS-denied drone-navigation company he now runs from Kyiv.
Brian Streem studied filmmaking at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. In 2014 he founded AeroCine Ventures (rebranded Aerobo), a Brooklyn-based drone cinematography studio that shot aerial work for Netflix, HBO, Amazon, ESPN, Fox, and major Hollywood productions. By 2016 the underlying AR/visualization tech drew interest from the U.S. Department of Defense, and in 2018 Streem and his team pivoted the company into Vermeer, building AR command-and-control and vision-based navigation systems that let drones and autonomous platforms operate without GPS. Streem relocated to Kyiv to run Vermeer from inside Ukraine's defense-tech ecosystem, positioning the company's GPS-denied navigation as a direct answer to Russian GPS jamming/spoofing on the front line; Vermeer closed a $10M Series A (Draper Associates, Oct 2025) and works with 30+ customers including the U.S. military and Ukraine.
