David Norwood
Founder and first CEO of IP2IPO Group plc (now IP Group plc); as CEO of City stockbroker Beeson Gregory, he structured the founding deal with Oxford University's Chemistry Department in 2001.
David Norwood founded IP2IPO Group plc in 2001, while serving as CEO of City stockbroker Beeson Gregory (having sold his prior firm, IndexIT Partnership Ltd, to Beeson Gregory Group plc in March 2000 for approximately GBP 34 million). He negotiated IP2IPO's founding 15-year agreement with Oxford University's Chemistry Department, giving the company 50% of equity and licensing income from the department's spinouts, a model the firm later extended to other UK universities. He stepped down from IP Group (as it was renamed) in 2008. He went on to found or co-found several other ventures, including Oxford Nanopore Technologies, 4D Pharma, Aura Capital, and Synergen, and co-founded and served as CEO (2015-2019) of Oxford Sciences Innovation, later renamed Oxford Science Enterprises.
