Henry A. "Hank" Crumpton is a former senior CIA officer, retired U.S. diplomat, and venture investor. He spent 24 years in the CIA's Clandestine Service, rising to Deputy Director of the Counterterrorist Center (1999-2001) and leading the CIA's Afghanistan campaign after the September 11 attacks. In 2005 President George W. Bush appointed him the State Department's Coordinator for Counterterrorism, with the rank of Ambassador-at-Large, until his 2007 retirement from government. In 2008 he founded Crumpton Group LLC (renamed Crumpton Global LLC in 2022), an advisory firm where he serves as Chairman, and he also founded Crumpton Ventures, investing in cybersecurity, robotics, and intelligence technology. He is the author of the bestselling memoir The Art of Intelligence: Lessons from a Life in the CIA's Clandestine Service (2012).
