Mark Machin is a British investment banker and pension-fund executive. He spent two decades at Goldman Sachs in London and Hong Kong, including as Head of Capital Markets and Investment Banking for Asia ex-Japan, before joining CPP Investments (CPPIB) in 2012. He became President & CEO in 2016, growing the fund's net assets to nearly five hundred billion Canadian dollars, and resigned in February 2021 after criticism over traveling to the UAE for a COVID-19 vaccine ahead of Canada's public rollout. In 2022 he co-founded Opto Investments with Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, serving as CEO then Vice Chair.
